In some public sectors it may be beneficial to use a yellow decking strips to provide a contrasting colour, or highlighted warning to the approach of a ramp/step or hazard etc.

How To Install Anti Slip Decking Strips

Step 1 – Preparation & Safety

The surface should be swept, and then cleaned with a suitable wash to remove any mildew and algae if present. This will not only make for an easier installation, it will ensure that the finished area is visually appealing and ensure longevity of the strips..

Any rotten surfaces should be removed and replaced prior to the installation of Anti Slip Decking Strips. The decking strips are only designed to be installed onto sound existing surfaces. Surfaces which are questionable or rotten may break away, and provide an unsafe surface for foot-traffic.

When installing Dino Grip Anti Slip Decking Strips, we recommend that PPE (personal protective equipment) be worn, including safety gloves and glasses.

Step 2 –  Fixings & Tools

You will need a drill with a screwdriver head and enough stainless steel screws to secure the strips in place. The amount of screws needed per strip can be found in our FAQ.

The Strips should be fixed into place using a 25mm stainless steel flanged headed screw. Using standard screws will likely rust, and stain the decking reducing the life of the product and installation.

Step 3 – Cutting Anti Slip Decking Strips

Dino Grip can cut each strip to the size you need before shipping – just contact us before or as soon as your order is placed. This service is absolutely FREE.

If you wish to cut the decking strips to size yourself during your installation, we recommend that PPE (personal protective equipment) be worn, including a suitable dust mask with protective safety goggles.

The decking strips should be cut externally or in well ventilated areas using a hack-saw, a jig saw (with a tile blade) or alternatively using a hand grinder.

Dust residue can be disposed of using normal waste disposal methods. No special permissions or licenses are required.

Step 4 –  Installing Anti Slip Decking Strips

Dino Grip Anti Slip Decking Strips are supplied pre-drilled as standard, so they can be fitted instantly. Simply position each strip where required and drill into place. The area can be immediately open to the public as the product requires no drying time.

Cleaning & Maintenance

The installation area should be regularly cleaned.  This allows all surface debris to be removed and reduces the build up of dirt, mildew and algae.

Clean the area with a general purpose cleaner that is applied using a stiff broom and then thoroughly rinse with clean water.

The security of the fixings should be checked on a regular basis. Circumstances will vary, based upon the volume of foot traffic etc. but, as a guide, monthly inspections would be advisable in high trafficked areas.

Dino Grip decking strips are high performance safety decking profiles, made from high quality FRP (Fibre Reinforced Plastic)/ GRP (Glass-fibre Reinforced Plastic). They are ideal for use in high traffic walkways, decking areas, pontoons, ramps, access bridges etc.

Wooden decking areas are notorious for becoming slippery when wet or with algae growth and the decking strips are an easy alternative for those slippery areas and can be installed for your own DIY Projects. The decking strips are also suitable for installation in any high trafficked areas where a quick anti-slip solution is required.

Our decking strips are quick and easy to install and are available in a range of colours and sizes and are suitable for DIY installations if required.
